The call volume with the Department has increased on an average of 18% per year since 2003. Fortunately, most calls did not originate in Newcastle, but thanks to the fast thinking of the staff, they end here. No community is completely immune to crime, our current Crime Rate is 3.8 per 1,000.
The Department’s dispatchers handle calls for the Department as well as the Newcastle Fire Department, McClain-Grady County EMS and Bridge Creek Fire Department.
Dedicated to the community, the Department participates in the Shop with the Cop Program. The program was established to build positive relationships between police officers and the children of community. It is a very positive experience not only for the kids that are involved, but also for the officers. Part of the fundraising effort is a concession stand at the City’s Annual Fourth of July celebration.
For more information, contact the Newcastle Police Department at 405.387.5525, Non-Emergency or 911 for Emergencies.
The City was able to establish an animal rescue facility for strays and unwanted animals. The Newcastle Animal Control is encouraging the community to adopt pets from the shelter.
